Description

Uppingham School has an exciting opportunity for a first-rate teacher of French and Spanish, to join our large and busy Modern Languages faculty.

You will teach from our purpose-built Language Centre, planning, preparing and delivering stimulating French and Spanish lessons across the school to ambitious and highly-motivated students. In addition to classroom teaching, you will also contribute to our vibrant co-curricular programme which includes a wide range of sports, activities and departmental trips, and you will also be attached as a tutor to one of the School’s fifteen boarding houses.

You will be a strong and dynamic individual, with excellent subject knowledge, a strong degree, good classroom management skills and an appropriate rapport with pupils. As most teachers within the faculty teach more than one language, we require you to be a proficient speaker of both French and Spanish. As you will also teach students at A level, we expect you will be able to teach at least French or Spanish at this level, ideally both. You will either be a well-qualified ECT or an experienced teacher with an exemplary track record of excellent teaching.

Accommodation may be available.

In return, Uppingham offers a community that values people. We are warm, compassionate and mutually supportive. This is reflected in our working environment and the benefits we are able to offer:

  • 50% contribution to premiums for School’s private health scheme
  • Free membership of dual-use Sports Centre (£25 annual joining fee)
  • Free staff lunches in term-time
  • School fee discount for children of staff (subject to change at any time)
  • Retail, gym, supermarket, cinema and restaurant discounts
  • Cycle to work scheme
