The Headmaster of Uppingham School invites applications for the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) across the Uppingham Group of Schools.
The Uppingham Group of Schools is made up of Uppingham School, a co-educational, full boarding and day school serving 850 pupils aged 13-18; Maidwell Hall, a recently acquired prep school; Uppingham Cairo which opens in 2024, with a further school planned to open in Vietnam in 2026.
In a newly created position, the COO will be a key part of the Uppingham Leadership Team (ULT) and work closely with the Headmaster to help lead the strategic direction across the group of schools, with a focus upon modernisation and the maximisation of resource efficiency and productivity. A wide-ranging and exciting role, the COO will provide commercial input into key areas of the Group, identifying opportunities for development and growth that support Uppingham’s ambition to lead the way in British education. The COO will be expertly supported by the Bursar of Uppingham School, who is responsible for financial management and corporate governance.
The COO will be an experienced professional with a track record of managing diverse resources and teams and delivering organisational change and innovation. Applications are encouraged from candidates from a broad range of sectors who have strong commercial and operational skills, and a demonstrable record of success in commercial, operational and/or business management roles. A commitment to, and empathy with, the wider educational and charitable mission of the UGS will also be essential.
