Description

This is a great opportunity to join one of the leading independent schools in the UK as Uppingham continues to invest in its matron provision across its boarding houses.

House Matrons play a pivotal role within the school, and we are seeking experienced pastoral professionals to work alongside our boarding house teams to deliver excellent care to our pupils aged 13-18, ensuring they settle into school and house routines, feel happy and content and have their welfare needs met.

The boarding houses are central to life at Uppingham School and matrons play a crucial role within these. An Uppingham house is very much an extended home. Each boarding house aims to represent a full spectrum of the personalities, characters and talent found across the school. A matron seeks to bring out the best in each pupil and ensure that they are treated as an individual within the boarding house.

The role also requires confidence with IT-based admin and strong communication skills in order to successfully deliver pastoral care to our pupils.

If you enjoy working as part of a team and can combine efficiency with friendliness and a genuine care for the welfare of our pupils, we would be delighted to hear from you. Experience in a care-based industry and/or working with young people is desirable.

In return Uppingham offers a community that values people. We are warm, compassionate and mutually supportive.

This is reflected in our working environment and the benefits we are able to offer:

  • 50% contribution to premiums for the School’s private health scheme
  • Free Westfield Healthcare
  • Free membership of dual-use Sports Centre (£25 annual joining fee)
  • Free staff lunches in term-time
  • School fee discount
  • 25% Holiday Club discount for children at local Nursery
  • Retail, gym, supermarket, cinema and restaurant discounts
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Occupational Health Services
  • Free annual flu jabs
  • Recognised as a “Disability Confident” employer
  • Recognised as a “Mindful” employer
  • Discounted RAC membership
  • Working towards Investors in Diversity

Closing date: Monday 29th January 2024 at 9am.

Interviews: Tuesday 6th February 2024.
