In this influential role, you will be responsible for the overall strategy, leadership, and management of our sports program. You will lead on outreach and recruitment efforts, oversee sports facilities, manage communications, recruit and allocate staff, act as the safeguarding Lead, and manage the department’s budget. Overall, your role involves shaping the future of Uppingham sport, maintaining high standards, promoting well-being, and ensuring efficient operations in line with the School’s aspirations.
Collaborating with three Deputy Directors of Sport, you will have a unique opportunity to shape our vision of outstanding sporting provision within education. By nurturing a strong team of coaches, including departmental colleagues, academic teachers, and external experts, you will inspire excellence and a sense of purpose among our staff.
To succeed, you’ll need to be an exceptional leader with a proven track record of bringing out the best in others. Your ability to listen, motivate, and inspire will be key to building a cohesive team united by a shared vision. With a keen eye for detail, you’ll ensure excellence in administration, organisation, communication, and presentation. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will enable you to build effective relationships and communicate with all key stakeholders, establishing yourself as a highly respected figurehead of Uppingham Sport.
