Description
The Head of Estates Services is a new post and is part of Uppingham’s continued investment in the Estates team. The role offers an exciting opportunity to provide a first-class operational management service across a unique and substantially sized estate.
The estate covers 125 non-contiguous acres, almost one mile apart at its extremities and interspersed by town housing and retail properties. It includes 59 acres of playing fields, 14 acres of gardens, and a built estate of 80 buildings with an insurance replacement value of £200 million, whose combined external footprint is 775,000 sq ft, and of which 23 are listed (Grades I – II). Buildings include teaching blocks, assembly buildings, boarding houses, staff housing, administrative and technical accommodation, and sports facilities. The diverse makeup of the estate presents stimulating challenges and an unrivalled opportunity to further expand your professional expertise within the field of estate management.
As Head of Estates Services, you will support the Estates team by providing strategic and operational management which will include, Security, Porterage, Gardens Team, Grounds Team, Staff Housing, Furniture, Fittings and Vehicle Management. Working closely with the Estates Director, you will plan and deliver a world-class schooling environment and play a central role in modernising working practices, communicating with all stakeholders, delivering a high standard of customer service, and helping fellow managers improve the culture in the Estates Team.
To be considered for this role you will require contract management and line management experience. This will be supported by relevant qualifications in Business, Leadership & Management, Asset Management, and/or Facilities Management. Equally important will be your strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to collect, scrutinise and interpret data to deliver practical solutions and recommendations within a busy environment. Lastly you will be a diplomatic problem solver who understands the requirements of stakeholders and colleagues.
