This is a great opportunity to join one of the leading independent schools in the UK as Uppingham continues to invest in its matron provision across its boarding houses.
House Matrons play a pivotal role within the school, and we are seeking experienced pastoral professionals to work alongside our boarding house teams to deliver excellent care to our pupils aged 13-18, ensuring they settle into school and house routines, feel happy and content and have their welfare needs met.
The boarding houses are central to life at Uppingham School and matrons play a crucial role within them. An Uppingham house is very much an extended home. Each boarding house aims to represent a full spectrum of the personalities, characters and talent found across the school. A matron seeks to bring out the best in each pupil and ensure that they are treated as an individual within the boarding house.
The role also requires confidence with IT-based admin, the ability to prioritise a busy workload and strong communication skills in order to successfully deliver pastoral care to our pupils.
If you enjoy working as part of a team and can combine efficiency with friendliness and a genuine care for the welfare of our pupils, we would be delighted to hear from you. Experience in a care-based industry and/or working with young people is desirable.
In return, Uppingham offers a community that values people. We are warm, compassionate and mutually supportive. This is reflected in our working environment and the benefits we are able to offer. These include:
- 50% contribution to premiums for School’s private health scheme
- Free membership of dual-use Sports Centre (£25 annual admin fee)
- Free staff lunches in term-time
- School fee day place discount for children of staff
- Retail and restaurant discounts, via Sodexo platform
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free annual ‘flu jabs
- Westfield health care package
Closing date: Friday 26th May 2023 at 9.00am.
Interviews: Monday 5th June and Tuesday 6th June 2023.
