Business Support Jobs

It takes a community to make a school.

Alongside our academic staff, there are 400 full and part-time business support staff working in a multitude of departments, who actively contribute to keeping the School running smoothly and supporting our educational vision.

Our 800 pupils reside in 15 boarding houses located across the town. Our Matron roles are incredibly impactful on our pupils’ lives, as a cornerstone of the exceptional pastoral care we provide, working with Housemasters and Housemistresses, tutors and medical teams to ensure each pupil receives the care they need.  Our domestic teams are also pivotal within the Houses, and across the School, maintaining excellent cleaning standards, working together as a team and supporting our pupils.

With an estate stretching over 120 acres the School relies on a team of highly-skilled professionals who maintain high standards within our Grounds, Gardens and Maintenance Departments. From carpenters working in our professional on-site workshop, to the plumbers, electricians and painters who work within our maintenance teams, you will be surprised at the range of opportunities available at Uppingham.

These departments work alongside administrative professionals in our admissions, marketing, IT, finance, human resources and enterprises departments, where our staff use their areas of expertise to support the School’s strategic vision. Staff are encouraged to make the most of their skills, while also embracing training opportunities to grow their knowledge and evolve their role over time.

Our business support staff enjoy a positive and supportive working culture, working within a vibrant and stimulating environment. Staff enjoy a competitive salary, alongside benefits including discounts on day pupil school fees for their children, Westfield healthcare, access to our state-of-the-art gym and discounts at thousands of retailers, supermarkets and restaurants.

Successful applicants will be driven professionals, who work well individually and as part of a team and have demonstrable skills within their department area. They will also understand the importance of safeguarding within a school, alongside having high personal and professional standards.
