Description

Uppingham School is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Team Leaders to join our friendly and supportive Domestic Services team.

In this key role, you will lead a team of Domestic Cleaners to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our boarding houses and central school buildings.

Working alongside the Assistant Cleaning Manager, you will be responsible for planning cleaning schedules, training and mentoring new staff and motivating your team to deliver outstanding results. You will carry out regular quality checks, manage cleaning supplies and oversee our laundry service.

We are seeking someone with a good understanding of cleaning procedures and the confidence to work independently while leading by example. You will bring proven experience in both cleaning and supervision, along with exceptional organisational skills and a meticulous eye for detail. Equally important are strong communication skills and a warm, professional, and proactive approach when engaging with pupils, parents, and colleagues alike.

This role is for 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. You will work 6 days per week on a rota basis, typically between 06:00am and 12:30pm, with some additional hours required during school events.

If you are a natural leader with a passion for teamwork and take real pride in maintaining highest standards, then we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Uppingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

All positions at the School are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, therefore ALL convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings (including those which would normally be considered ‘spent’ under the Act) MUST be declared, subject to the DBS filtering rules. All information given will be treated as confidential and each case will be taken on its merits. Failure to disclose this information may result in the withdrawal of an offer of employment or immediate termination of employment.

Uppingham School is an equal opportunities employer.
