Description

Uppingham School is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Biology to play a central role in the life of our thriving Science faculty.

With a state-of-the-art Science building widely regarded as the best in the country, we aspire for Uppingham to become the national centre for excellence in Science education in the United Kingdom. As a Teacher of Biology, you will play a vital role in realising this vision by inspiring pupils, nurturing curiosity, and fostering a lasting love of the Sciences through dynamic and innovative teaching.

As a full-time member of staff, you will also be fully involved in the wider life of this seven-day boarding school. Beyond the classroom, you will be attached as a tutor to one of the School’s sixteen houses, as well as contribute to clubs, societies and competitions. From dissection and journal clubs to the Biology Olympiad, you will share in the department’s commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and understanding.

This post would suit either an experienced teacher or someone at the beginning of their career who is eager to develop their skills and experience within a supportive and ambitious department. A strong academic background, excellent subject knowledge and good classroom management skills are essential. The ability to teach a second Science to GCSE would also be advantageous.

Working hours are 48 per week, 32 weeks per year.

This role has a start date of January 2026.
