Description

Uppingham School is looking for Weekend Domestic Cleaners who want to be part of a warm, friendly team dedicated to making our school feel welcoming, well‑kept, and homely. Your work will have a genuine impact on the daily life of our pupils and staff — helping to create calm, comfortable spaces where our community can thrive.

Your working days will be Saturday and/or Sunday, offering flexible, predictable daytime hours that fit naturally around family life, studies, or other weekly commitments. It’s an ideal opportunity for anyone seeking rewarding work with truly family‑friendly scheduling.

You’ll play an important and valued role in keeping our pupil homes looking their very best. Whether you’re brightening communal spaces with dusting, sweeping and vacuuming, refreshing carpets and shared areas with deeper cleaning, or supporting daily routines through meal service and laundry, everything you do contributes to a caring, well‑maintained environment that feels like home for our pupils.

Working hours:

4.67 – 9.34 per week (Saturday and/or Sunday, 9.15am to 2.25pm), 36 weeks per year.

Additionally, we have morning central cleaning positions across our teaching and office buildings available from 6am.  Many of our staff combine various House and Central Cleaning roles.

Uppingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

All positions at the School are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, therefore ALL convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings (including those which would normally be considered ‘spent’ under the Act) MUST be declared, subject to the DBS filtering rules. All information given will be treated as confidential and each case will be taken on its merits. Failure to disclose this information may result in the withdrawal of an offer of employment or immediate termination of employment.

Uppingham School is an equal opportunities employer.
