As a dual-purpose sports facility, the Uppingham School Sports Centre (USSC) plays a pivotal role in both school and town life.
USSC’s facilities include sports halls, dance studios, a recently updated fitness suite, swimming pool and hospitality suite. USSC staff facilitate PE lessons, training sessions, sports fixtures and events for the School, while also working closely with members of the public, who use the facilities as part of the membership programme.
Our Front of House team are the face of USSC. These roles include receptionist duties, signing in members and ensuring professional standards are met within the centre. This team demonstrates exceptional communication skills in order to promote everything USSC has to offer, as well as ensuring that any changes to the timetable or fitness classes are communicated to members clearly and in a timely manner. They are also involved in setting up rooms for fitness classes and school events in the multipurpose hospitality suite.
The swimming pool at USSC is one of the most popular facilities at the Centre, particularly for members of the public who participate in our swimming lessons and swim parties. Safety throughout the Centre is our top priority, with our Lifeguards and Swimming Teachers playing a vital role in maintaining our high standards in and around the pool.
Our popular fitness suite was renovated in December 2021, incorporating high-level equipment for the use of pupils, staff and USSC members. Our Fitness Instructors play an important role in ensuring this equipment is used safely, as well as leading personal training sessions and fitness classes throughout the week.
