Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding director and leader to play a pivotal role building and delivering an ambitious and creative vision for artistic excellence at Uppingham Theatre.
As Director of Theatre, you will be responsible for the delivery of all aspects of co-curricular Drama at Uppingham, working closely with the Head of Academic Drama to manage the delivery of Drama within the School’s taught curriculum and teaching a reduced timetable.
You will also oversee the theatrical programme at Uppingham Theatre as well as the running of the facilities; ensuring the theatre’s strong culture of participation and enjoyment continues, and students can express themselves onstage and behind the scenes, be it as performers, lighting and sound engineers, stage managers, directors or playwrights.
Theatre and Drama flourish at Uppingham. The Uppingham Theatre is a well-established, fully equipped 300-seat theatre which regularly stages School productions ranging from big musicals to classic productions and house plays. The theatre is at the heart of a vibrant professional arts programme and as such plays a significant role in the cultural life of both the School and the wider community.
You will need to be an individual of considerable creativity, energy and dedication, with significant experience of directing both large and small scale productions, knowledge of the theatre in all its aspects, as well as a proven track record of success in leadership.
