Description

If you are a qualified electrician looking to develop your skills and experience within a unique and historic environment, then this is an exciting opportunity to join our Estates Department at Uppingham School.

Uppingham School’s estate spans 80 historic buildings across 125 acres, including 24 listed structures. As part of our multi-trade Estates Department, you will play a crucial role in delivering a responsive, high-quality service to keep our diverse estate operating safely and efficiently.

You will join a small team of electricians, working proactively to manage a varied planned maintenance programme, respond to reactive requests from school users, support installation works and contribute to replacement and upgrade projects across the School.

This will involve:

  • Carrying out daily and routine maintenance on various systems, equipment and appliances
  • Undertaking electrical installations and modifications
  • Completing electrical certification, including Minor Works, EIC, Part P and EICR
  • Ensuring compliance with NICEIC standards and verifying the quality of electrical installations
  • Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing faults

About you

You will hold a recognised electrical qualification (e.g. Level 3 City & Guilds 2230, 18th Edition of IEE regulations or an equivalent apprenticeship), and a 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent). A full driving licence is also essential.

You will have strong practical experience in electrical maintenance, including power supplies, lighting and alarm systems, motors, controls and portable appliances, with the ability to diagnose and report faults accurately.

We are looking for a self-motivated, hard-working team player with excellent communication skills, good timekeeping, a positive attitude and the ability to manage a varied workload under minimal supervision.
