Description

Uppingham School is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Visiting Flute Teacher to contribute to a vibrant Music Department with a long-established reputation for artistic excellence.

The school’s musical life is rich and varied, with an exceptionally busy programme that includes orchestral, choral and chamber music activity, alongside a concert band, a jazz band, regular pupil recitals, an annual recital competition, concerto performances with professional ensembles, and a wide range of choirs.

As a Visiting Flute Teacher, you will teach students of all levels and abilities in an array of styles, preparing students for graded examinations, GCSE and A Level performances, as well as participation in events such as workshops, masterclasses and school concerts. You will be responsible for supporting the technical and musical development of flautists from complete beginners through to post-Diploma level, offering expert guidance to help students prepare for orchestras, performances, competitions, examinations and potential Music College entry.

Teachers are contracted to provide thirty lessons per year for each pupil. However, there is an element of flexibility required in the role, and the number of lessons taught may change on a termly basis. For those living more than 20 miles away from Uppingham, a mileage allowance is available to cover travel for each full teaching day.

Uppingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

All positions at the School are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, therefore ALL convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings (including those which would normally be considered ‘spent’ under the Act) MUST be declared, subject to the DBS filtering rules. All information given will be treated as confidential and each case will be taken on its merits. Failure to disclose this information may result in the withdrawal of an offer of employment or immediate termination of employment.

Uppingham School is an equal opportunities employer.
