Description

Uppingham School is looking for a Learning Support Mentor to provide support to individual pupils with SEND, with a specific focus on literacy intervention, exam technique, effective use of access arrangements in public exams and pupils’ organisation of their workloads.

You will create a a personalised mentoring programme to support the academic progress of students, providing guidance and advice on methods of effective study and revision. You will also plan and deliver 1:1 / small group interventions for a case load of pupils, recording outcomes and providing support plan recommendations to teachers and pastoral house staff.

We are looking for a patient, confident and calm individual, who can empathise with the needs of students with SEND. You will also need previous experience of working with young people with SEND, as well as excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills.

Working hours will vary according to the number of pupils who need support and their individual schedules. Core hours for the role will be a minimum of 12 hours per week, term time only, but it is anticipated that additional hours will be available on a flexible basis. This role is fixed-term for one year, however there is potential for the role to be extended or made permanent.
